Racing Tires

Things we get asked?

Key questions we ask: Do you ride on track and road? If you ride the road are you a fair weather only rider?

If you use the same bike on track days and on the road you need a DOT approved tire.
The stock tires that come on many bikes are not high performance tires and make sure there not old, cracked or corded.
Your tires are one of the most important investments in safety for you and your bike. Make good choices and look after them and they’ll look after you.

We suggest our High Performance DOT Approved Track Day Tire which is called the Pirelli SC3TD DOT (left) which stands for ‘Track Day’.

This tire changed everything when it was released. It is what we use to coach as Pirelli Race Tire Ambassadors at Perfect Lap and it is outstanding for the track day rider that also rides the street in good weather.

This tire can be used with tire warmers to increase performance and longevity (ask us to try warmers at your next track day). It does not contain silica so it is not ideal for performance riding in cold wet conditions.
If you are the rider that rides in all weather, does long road trip and experiences cold/wet variable conditions our DOT Tire Recommendation is the:

Pirelli SP V4 (left) or Pirelli Rosso 4 (below)

These tires are designed to operate in all conditions and can still be used at the race track.
Pro tip: If you come across a well priced extra sets of wheels they are always a treat to have as you can tailor the bike for all conditions.
High Performance Pirelli Slicks are the best option but you will need: Tire Warners and generator with ~1500 watts of power.

If you want to run slicks and get maximize performance on the track you need tire warmers to get heat into the tire and wheel to make the rubber sticky, as your only non tire warmer choice is the Pirelli SC3 Track Day which are high performance and can be used with or without warmers.
